going nowhere getting somewhere

Moving along urban edges, on open roads, through country landscapes, and transitional spaces, my work draws on The Hero’s journey - a universal narrative describing a person who adventures from the familiar in search of deeper meaning.

This journey is not linear, nor is it ever complete.  It unfolds as a spiral path where we encounter liminal spaces and dead-ends, repetition and detours, movement and retreat, pauses and quiet reflection.

Meaning is not found in the destination, rather, in the unfolding of life and in the acceptance of what is - continuously learning, understanding and expanding.

GOING NOWHERE GETTING SOMEWHERE, is as much about my photographic process as it is about the final images.  Working with analogue photography, my pace slows, my mind empties, and I wander with open curiosity grounded in the moment.

Through double exposures, blurred images, and photographs taken in motion across industrial and natural landscapes through car windows, I aim to destabilize the point of focus.

When clarity is disrupted, when details are missed, and when sharpness is denied - we lose the impulse to judge, to interpret, and to project.  Instead, we are asked to stay with the experience, and to be present to ourselves.

Where do I go?

What do I sense?

What is present?

What do I understand about myself?

What remains unresolved?

Where do I land?

These are the questions I return to as I answer the call - not toward a final destination, rather, toward a life more fully lived.

Finding peace in the moment, acceptance of what is, and beauty in the mundane is what sustains me on my journey.

What is calling you on your journey?
